SERVICES - LAND & AERIAL SURVEYS
Barnard & Schneider
Vastly experienced, we are able to tackle any survey required. Apart from the normal cadastral, engineering, sectional title & topographical surveys, there is also a focus on specialised high precision surveys. This includes ongoing dam deformation surveys & previous surveys of main & secondary spars of aeroplane wings to determine structural deformation.
Airborne Technologies
For the past 10 years, we have worked with Airborne technologies, initially using drones & lately a Jabiru fixed wing aircraft. Aerial surveys for proposed filling station & new township sites, sectional title schemes, large private school properties, existing malls, dams (which included bathmetric surveys) & large mining areas were undertaken.
Power Line Surveys
Survey of approximately 10 000kms of transmission lines throughout Southern Africa & Iran involving route selection, profiling & tower/pole staking. Other interesting projects included as built surveys of old water canals & hydrographic surveys of various dams in the Free State.
ABOUT BARNARD & SCHNEIDER
Is a long established firm (previously Schneider & Dreyer established 1970) which practices Land Surveying throughout Southern Africa & abroad. We have always had a sense of adventure & the firm has a history of tackling any type of survey required.
Land Surveyors Peter Barnard, Richard Thomas & Piet Rheeder have vast experience in specialised high precision surveys, cadastral & large scale engineering projects including thousands of kilometres of power line surveys. Yearly high precision dam monitoring surveys are carried out on huge earth wall dams (2mm horizontal & 0.5mm vertical accuracy). Piet also uses a drone in conjunction with Model Maker for designing small dams in the Eastern Free State. He has also recently been involved in a project where contours were created from aerial survey & transferred to a tractor which then automatically ploughed the field in accordance with the contours.
Neil Dawson of Airborne Technologies is a Pilot and a RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) systems designer/technician & has been the South African Model Aircraft Champion on numerous occasions. From 2010, he developed a RPAS system for aerial survey, game counting & anti poaching. Agrisoft Photoscan is used for the reduction of the photographic images & Global Mapper for the final presentation of the data. A Jabiru fixed wing aircraft is equipped with a 54Mega Pixel camera.
Dewald Greyling has an IT Networking & sales distibution background, 2002-2007.
For the last 15 years, he has been managing & operating a specialised pipeline camera inspections survey company.
Dewald is a qualified pilot & has been involved with Airborne Technologies since 2020 as an operations manager as well as a camera systems operator.
